Freddie Roach: Difficult fight vs Mosley

Freddie Roach: Difficult fight vs Mosley Roach sees difficult fight vs Mosley
mb.com.ph Even though Freddie Roach has Shane Mosley all figured out, the bespectacled cornerman remains wary of what the seasoned American puncher can bring to the ring on May 7, 2011 in Las Vegas.

This early, Roach has thought about reacquainting himself with Mosley, who faces his prized pupil Manny Pacquiao in a welterweight battle before an expected capacity crowd at the MGM Grand.

Told which fight of Mosley he will review, Roach admitted that Mosley’s landmark wins over Oscar De La Hoya won’t be among the videos he will soon watch.

“I won’t probably go that far,” said Roach of Mosley’s victories over the Golden Boy in 2000 and 2003.
“People keep saying this is going to be easy but it’s going to be tough specially in the first four rounds,” said Roach, rating Mosley over and above the others earlier being considered as Pacquiao foes, Juan Manuel Marquez and Andre Berto.

Tops on Roach’s watch list would be Mosley’s destruction of Antonio Margarito in January 2009, a fight that brought back memories of the Mosley of old, the guy who was fast
and furious.
Roach has put premium on that Mosley triumph since it took place when Margarito was thought to have been invincible following his devastation of Miguel Cotto.

Mosley, 39, has a 46-6-1 win-lossdraw record with 39 knockouts.

Although he was badly outclassed by Floyd Mayweather last May, Mosley hasn’t been stopped in his illustrious 17-year professional career.

But Pacquiao adviser Mike Koncz said that fancy feather in Mosley’s cap will soon fall to the ground.

“Mosley’s very dangerous in the early rounds but after that Manny’s going to stop him and become the first guy to knock him out, something Mayweather couldn’t do,” Koncz said.
